O Lord, You have brought up my soul from Sheol; You restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit.
Psalm 30:3
As I look back on the friends (and enemies) I knew before I began to follow Jesus in this life, this verse of Scripture takes on a stark clarity. Those who are still alive among them, where are they? And what has their life been like? My life has been one long, joyous adventure. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been good; so good!
And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide Himself anymore, but your eyes shall see your Teacher. And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it," when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.
Isaiah 30:20-21
Being led through this life with God Himself for my Lord and Teacher, showing me the way, quietly encouraging me in the decisions that make up life, disciplining me where I go astray to bring me back to the right road, I’m safe. My life is blessed.
For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, "In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength."
Isaiah 30:15
Lord Jesus, You have brought me thus far. Keep me on the right road, today. Amen.
