Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Thursday 9/25/2025

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and how inscrutable His ways!
Romans 11:33

Deep, unsearchable, inscrutable: three words that describe our experience, as we try to know and understand God.

If it’s left up to us to try and figure Him out, we have the natural revelation of His Law written on our hearts, but since our hearts have been corrupted by sin we can’t rely entirely on that. We get part of the picture right, but then our darkened reasoning and our twisted thinking inevitably lead us off into confusion.

All we can know for sure about Him is what He has revealed in His Word, and even as we read the Bible we struggle to simply take it for what it says.

God hasn’t told us everything. There’s more to Him than we can ever hope to understand, but He’s told us what we need to know. We can spend a lifetime getting to know Him, and in His wonderful mercy He comes to us, personally meets with us, and guides us into an ever deeper experience of knowing Him.

So we pray every Sunday, “Increase in us a true knowledge of You, and of Your will, and true obedience to Your Word…”

And His Word promises, “You will seek Me and you will find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart.”

Lord, You love to be known by your beloved children. Thank You for receiving me, for Jesus’ sake. Let me know You more, understand You better, and discover, day by day, Your purpose in my life. Amen.
