Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Tuesday 12/2/2025 Devotional

Of the angels He says, "He makes His angels winds, and His ministers a flame of fire."
But of the Son He says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of Your kingdom.”
Hebrews 1:7-8

There is only one God, and He doesn’t share divinity with His created beings. Just in case we could read that verse and still have doubts about it, the passage goes on: “And, ‘You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of Your hands; they will perish but You will remain;  like a robe You will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed. But You are the same, and Your years will have no end.’

“‘And to which of the angels has He ever said, "Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet’?

(Hebrews 1:10-13)

The distinction between God and His creation is always maintained. The truth is what the Bible teaches, and what the ancient creeds say: Jesus is “the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, light of light, very God of Very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father; by Whom all things were made…”
(Nicene Creed)

That’s why we celebrate His birth every year: the One “who for us men, and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary, and was made man…”

God, the Creator, took on human flesh so that He could pay the penalty for your sin and mine, by dying on the cross.

Lord God, I stand amazed as I meditate on the grace that motivated such an expression of love for me, Your broken creation. The forgiveness and redemption You offer are beyond my ability to comprehend. Thank you!
