Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Monday 3/2/2026 Devotional

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!"
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Selah
Psalm 46:10-11

“Selah” was a musical annotation that meant something like, “Stop now, and meditate on the words we just sang, as the music plays.” So, let’s do that!

First, we hear God speak: “Be still!”Too often as I pray, I rattle off my shopping list of requests and want to get on with my day. I go back to being upset about everything that’s wrong, that isn’t going the way I thought it should. God bids me, “Be still!”

Second, He says, “Know that I Am God.” Now, I know this already in my mind, intellectually, of course, but here He means, “Stop; take a moment; be still and recognize that I Am God and you are not!” He bids me remember who is in charge, ever since I surrendered my life to Him who redeemed me.

“I will be exalted.” If I want Him to be exalted in my life, I have to step back and give Him space to work. I have to relinquish the control and accept the fact that He will be exalted in this; His good and loving purpose will be accomplished in my life. Others will see how He brings beauty out of the chaos of my life. My Redeemer, my Comforter will be lifted up for all to see, and they will be amazed at what He has done.

Lord, this whole thing is too messed up for me to fix. Thank You that You are the one who has promised to redeem this mess of my life and turn it into something good.
I’m going to surrender the controls to You and let You be God in my life. I’ll wait, and see what You do with it.
I’ll just follow orders, trusting in You. Amen.
