Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Tuesday 7/15/2025 Devotional

Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, "Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? And when did we see You a stranger and welcome You, or naked and clothe You? And when did we see You sick or in prison and visit You?"
And the King will answer them, "Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these My brothers, you did it to Me."
Matthew 25:37-40

Charitable institutions are a good thing. Almost all the food pantries and soup kitchens that are actually feeding people are Christian institutions. Most of the great colleges and universities, hospitals, and ministries to the homeless and to prisoners were started by people who love God.

Too often, after a couple of generations, simebody discovers how much money and power they can accumulate by turning the institution into a self-serving, for-profit venture.

But on a personal level, where God sees my heart, the Lord is watching. He takes my attitude and my actions personally because He cares about the people that the world leaves behind, in its relentless forward march to wealth and power. Whether I'm serving Him in the context of one of those institutions, or whether I'm just doing what I can on a personal level, I'm doing it for Jesus.

Lord, give me eyes to see the people around me as You see them, not the way World sees them. Show me how to serve You by serving them. Amen.
