God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with Him.
1 Thessalonians 5:9-10
The Pagans believed in fate. They believed that whatever had been decided by the Pagan gods would happen to you, no matter what you did.
The Bible doesn’t teach fate, it teaches destiny. Destiny is a Christian concept; it’s what God has planned for you, what He created you for, and He invites you to reach out and embrace it, to fulfill it your destiny.
God has destined you not for wrath but to obtain salvation through Christ. By embracing the forgiveness He offers you, you lay hold of the destiny for which you were created; you step into it. Living with Jesus, you fulfill your destiny.
The Bible speaks a few verses before this about “those who have fallen asleep,” meaning those who have died and gone to heaven. Here he says that your destiny, whether you are awake or asleep, is to live with Him.
Fulfill your destiny! Lay hold of salvation, forgiveness, redemption and life with Jesus, whether you live or die. Don’t miss it. You were made for this.
Lord Jesus, thank You for purchasing my salvation with Your own blood. Thank you for offering it to me: forgiveness, redemption, and life. Whether I continue to live here or you take me home, I am destined to live with You. Thank you, Lord! Amen.
