May God be gracious to us and bless us and make His face to shine upon us, (Selah)
that Your way may be known on earth, Your saving power among all nations.
Let the peoples praise You, O God; let all the peoples praise You!
Psalm 67:1-3
God’s blessing on a people has a purpose. He prospers a nation so that that nation can make Him, His ways, and His saving power known around the world.
He doesn’t necessarily bless a nation just because they’re special. Whether that nation is Israel, or the USA, or Canada, the purpose of God’s outpouring of prosperity is not just so we can be more comfortable and at ease. His purpose is to make it possible for us to make Him known.
Do you want God’s blessing on your life? The Lord Jesus made it clear: “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be yours as well.”
What happens when God prospers us and we don’t follow through? I’ll let you figure that one out. (Here’s a hint: study History.)
Lord, blessing and prosperity come from You; we pray that You would indeed bless and prosper us. Let Your abundant provision, Your gifts of healing and peace come upon us.
Give us grace, too, to follow through, so that You’re free to keep pouring out Your blessing on us. Help me to seek You, Your Kingdom, and the right way to live, so that Your saving power is clearly seen in my life by everyone who meets me. Amen!
