Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Saturday 3/18/2026 Devotional

And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers. But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that His Christ would suffer, He thus fulfilled.
Acts 3:17-18

Isn’t ironic that the very thing that proves that Jesus is God’s promised Savior, the Messiah, is what is used to reject Him? They say, “The Messiah comes to rule, to restore the Kingdom of David. Since Jesus was killed He must not have been the one!”

But all the prophets in the Scriptures spoke about His suffering and dying as the atoning sacrifice for our sin.

Yes, He comes to rule. He rules in the hearts of those who receive Him. He will come again to rule the rest of mankind, and at that point every knee will bow to Him. But first He had to be the Savior, suffering in our place, as the prophets foretold.

There is a tendency as we read the Bible to only hear the parts we like and to refuse to hear the parts we don’t like. My sinful heart wants to be the judge of Scripture, instead of letting the Bible judge and correct me. But that would put me above the Word of God, and that, of course, is the point: my sinful self wants to be god.

Repentance means getting my sorry self off of the throne and letting God be God.

Your throne is established from of old; You are from everlasting.
Psalm 93:2

Lord, I surrender to You, because I trust You. Forgive my resistance. You are God; I’m not. Be the Lord of my life today, as You are the Lord of all. Amen.
