Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Wednesday 12/31/2025 Devotional

Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.
1 Peter 2:11

Sojourners are temporary residents, homeless people, just passing through. Exiles are people who find themselves displaced, foreigners in a country not their own.

As citizens of the Kingdom of God you and I are temporary residents in this world, foreigners living in a country that isn’t our home.

We are invaders, not immigrants. We have come to invade enemy-held territory and set the enemy’s slaves free.

The slave-masters that bind them are the  passions of the flesh, that once bound us, too, but our past has been forgiven and we’ve been set free. Putting ourselves under their power again would be the very opposite of what we’re here to do!

He himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed.
1 Peter 2:24

Once I was lost, but now I’m found. Lord Jesus, thank You for finding me, forgiving me, healing me and setting me free. Lord, keep me free from those enslaving passions today as I live as a stranger in this foreign land.
Amen.
