Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:1

Peace with God! What a wonderful idea.

So long as we continue in rebellion against God, we are at enmity with Him;  there is no peace. When we try to earn our way to heaven by doing good works and trying to obey His Law, we’re still not at peace with Him; we always have to see Him as the one who is judging us and always finding that we come up short. But when we receive His forgiveness and are declared innocent, justified by His grace, received as His own beloved children for Jesus’ sake, now we’re at peace with Him.

And not just peace in the sense of being left alone at a distance; it’s the real, soul-satisfying, cleansing peace of a child who knows that his Father loves him absolutely.

Father, thank You for the peace I find in knowing You. Thank You for the forgiveness that covers me, surrounds me, and buoys me up even in the tough times. Thank You, Lord! Amen.
