Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Saturday 5/23/2026 Devotional

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
Romans 8:26

Do you sometimes find yourself at a loss for words when you pray? Do you get to a point where you don’t know what to ask for, or how to ask for it? It’s like when you get on your knees you hit the wall, like writer’s block, but it’s pray-er’s block. Nothing comes. Now what?

This verse tells us that when that happens, it’s okay, because God Himself who knows everything, who searches the hearts, knows what you need, and He also knows what God wants. The Holy Spirit knows the heart of the Father.

So He keeps right on praying as you wait there on your knees, and somehow, with “groanings too deep for words,” He is communicating between your heart and God’s heart. He’s bringing things into line and asking for what you need and for what God wants at the same time.

It’s okay; you can rest in knowing that the praying is getting done. Stay there as long as it takes, and worship the one who knows it all.

Father, there are a lot of things I need to talk to You about, but I don’t know where to start. Thank You for coming to live in my heart by Your Holy Spirit, so that the communication between us is uninterrupted. I’m waiting on You to make it clear to me: what’s needed, how I should pray, and what You want to bring about in my life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
