Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Sunday 1/18/2026 Devotional

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight!
Isaiah 5:20-21

…as the tongue of fire devours the stubble, and as dry grass sinks down in the flame, so their root will be as rottenness, and their blossom go up like dust; for they have rejected the Law of the Lord of hosts, and have despised the Word of the Holy One of Israel.
Isaiah 5:24

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:3

But let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread Your protection over them, that those who love Your name may exult in You. For You bless the righteous, O Lord; You cover him with favor as with a shield.
Psalm 5:11-12

If I reject the wisdom of God’s Word and His standards of right and wrong because I think I know better, I will eventually suffer the consequences, becoming like dry grass in the fire. Poof!

But if I will just recognize my own spiritual poverty, lack of real understanding and wisdom, and coming to Him for forgiveness, restoration and guidance, take refuge in Him, then God’s blessing, favor, and protection are poured out for me - and the Kingdom of Heaven is mine!

Lord, thank You for accepting me as your own child as I come to take refuge in You. Thank You for forgiving me for Jesus’ sake, and for the plans you have to strengthen my feet on Your way. Lead me on the right path, today.
Amen.
