Teach me Your way, O Lord, and lead me on a level path, because of my enemies.

My struggle with temptation, is always going to be hand to hand and at close quarters. The world, the flesh and the devil gang up on me, but the fight is up close and personal.

In hand to hand combat, having a level path to stand on is crucial. If you’re unsure of your footing, afraid of slipping, in danger with each step of tripping over something, it’s hard to concentrate on the fight and hard to defend yourself effectively.

It’s good to know that as God leads me on the right road through this life, He will also set my feet on level places that afford me a sure footing. Following His Word keeps me on solid ground so that when the temptations come I can fight them with confidence, free from distractions about where I’m standing. It’s still a battle, but now I’m fighting on solid ground. It makes all the difference.

Lord, You know how powerful the enemies are who war against my soul. Keep my feet sure on Your level path as You lead me, and give me the strength to fight the temptations I will face today. My hope and my strength are in You. Amen.
