Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Saturday 4/4/2026 Devotional

For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it up again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from My Father.
John 10:17-18

As we read the story of the betrayal, arrest, trial and crucifixion of Jesus we are struck by the injustice that was done. Even Pilate, the Governor who ordered His execution, insisted that he could find no fault in Him. Jesus was innocent, sinless, and thoroughly good.

But He wasn’t the hapless victim that the story on its surface would seem to portray. He gave His life willingly as the sacrifice that cleanses us and purchases our redemption. He could have stopped the whole thing at any moment but chose to go through with it, for your sake. He stayed true to His purpose in coming to earth until He had successfully opened the way for you and me to be restored to God.

The way home is open. All we have to do is walk through it, trusting in His promise of forgiveness.

Thank You, Lord, for opening the door for me. Thank You for not giving up on me until I walk through it into the arms of my Father. Thank You for catching me when I fall, and for believing in me, that I am save-able. Receive me, Lord Jesus, as I come to You. Amen.
