He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.”
Acts 1:7
How many times over the years have I asked God to tell me what’s next, or what His plan is, or what He’s doing, in the situation in which I find myself?
He never seems to answer that prayer. Time after time I have thought I knew what it was all about and how what I was doing fit into The Plan, only to discover that He was doing something completely different than what I thought.
I got over being frustrated by this years ago. There’s a certain delight in discovering, to my surprise, after years of me “barking up the wrong tree,” that all along He was up to something that had never occurred to me. Besides, His plan is always better than what I thought it was going to be.
There are some things that are not for me to know, and that’s okay. If I knew the plan or the timing I’d probably try to “help” and make a mess of everything. I don’t need to know; I just need to trust Him and do what He has called me to do, be what He has called me to be.
Lord Jesus, You are the Lord. You’re in charge; I’m not. I know that, now. Help me to be faithful with what’s on my plate and trust You with the plan, the timing, and the results. Amen.
