Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Thursday 1/15/2026 Devotional

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, "Let us burst Their bonds apart and cast away Their cords from us."
Psalm 2:2-3

It seems that sooner or later the rulers of men take this attitude. Drunk with power, they grow tired of living under the Law of God and want to make up their own morality.

Of course it’s not just the rulers. As the American Declaration of Independence puts it, rulers “derive their just powers from the consent of the governed.” Ruling authorities can’t do anything unless the people over whom they rule give their consent. The desire to abandon God’s Word resides in the heart of each of us, unless we repent, return to Him, and seek His forgiveness.

In our day those who govern our world are running wild with the idea of casting off God’s authority and substituting their own. It’s being done subtly, by first convincing the population over whom they rule to approve of this “new morality,” that redefines good as evil and evil as good.

Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Psalm 2:10-11

Lord, forgive me for my part in consenting to this rebellion against Your Word.  In Your mercy, bring about a fresh return to Your truth among the common people. Raise up a revival of repentance and faith, so that the crazy power of rebellious rulers can again be restrained. Amen.
