For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God; God the only Son, who is at the Father’s side, He has made Him known.

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 1:4-5

The mystery of the Trinity: that there is one God who reveals Himself in three persons so distinct that they are able to converse with one another, but who are that one God, baffles many people. How can such a thing be? And yet the Word of God says that’s the way it is.

Jesus, the Light of the World, came to reveal this one God to us. He is God the Son from eternity but arranged to be born as a man in a moment of History. There’s another mystery for you. How can that be? But that’s what the Bible tells us.

Jesus, the Light that gives life to every man, came into the world, and the world rejected Him and killed Him. How can we kill the very source of life? But that’s what happened.

“The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” How is that possible? It seems to make no sense, and yet it’s true.

In the darkest places of earth, where every effort is made to stamp out the Light and smother the hope of heaven that’s ours in Jesus, the Light glows and grows. The Lord Jesus comes and reveals Himself to people in prison, in Islamic dictatorships, in atheistic strongholds - even in our Universities and in Hollywood!

Lord Jesus, thank You for coming into this world. Thank You for invading my darkness. Thank You for revealing Yourself to me. Be the light that gives life to me; speak in my heart and lead me as I go about my day, today. Amen.
