Calvary Update 8/3/2025
Hello, everyone!
Confirmation Sunday! Zoila and Amelia Martinez were confirmed in their Christian faith today at Calvary. We have been waiting since “like, forever” to be able to do this in our own church building, so this was a landmark moment for our congregation.
After the service we had a dinner provided by the Martinez family and shared a beautiful time of fellowship in our newly remodeled parish hall. What a gift this construction project has been for us already!
Since the FLY convention in Colorado last month we have had a real youth group. They really bonded together during that week and are growing in their faith together. It’s so good to see!
I want to encourage everyone who can to come join us on Wednesday evenings at 5:00 for our potluck supper and then at 6:00 for the Bible Study fellowship. This is our main midweek fellowship at Calvary, although we have other meetings for specific groups (men, women, moms with small children, teenagers…). This is the big one for our congregation and it’s always a good time to be together. Come, if you possibly can. If you can’t bring food (some days are like that) just come and help us eat it!
Debbie and I will leave on Thursday this week for a few days in the Frozen North to celebrate her sister’s 50th wedding anniversary. We’ll be back next Monday. Pastor Rich will preach and lead worship next Sunday.
There were a few mistakes in the calendar published in this morning’s bulletin that we should correct. I’m sorry; I guess we’re still getting used to the new computer. But Sunday School for adults, teens, and kids is at 9:30 and church is at 10:30, and it’s all happening at Calvary, not up the road at Hosanna. Wednesday Ladies’ Bible Study is at 9:30 AM, also at Calvary; it hasn’t been canceled.
“Come and see what God has done: He is awesome in His deeds toward the children of man… There will we rejoice in Him, who rules by His might forever…” Psalm 66:5-7
