Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Thursday 11/13/2025 Devotional

For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Colossians 3:3

What does that mean? How can I have died and still be alive? How is Christ my life?

When you come and confess your sins to God, looking for His forgiveness, He hides you in Jesus, unites you somehow with Him so that His death on the cross becomes your death and His resurrection, your resurrection. From then on, so far as God is concerned, you have died and the life you now life is Christ, living in you.

The power of Christ is at work in you from then on to overcome temptation, to be able to love and forgive others the way that Jesus would, and to worship and serve God out of a pure heart; the heart of Jesus, that’s yours now.

If that sounds mysterious, it’s because it’s a mystery! You don’t have to understand it; it’s something God does and you can just accept it. Take it by faith and enjoy it. Live the new life, with His life flowing through you.

The old nature is always there, ready to step in and take over, but that’s where confession and God’s ongoing forgiveness come in. Reckon that old guy dead and let Christ be your life, now.

Lord, I know this is true; I’ve felt it happening and it’s wonderful. Help me to lay hold of it today. Be my life, living in me! Amen.
