Jesus was doing something that Peter couldn’t understand. It didn’t make sense to him and he objected to it, questioning Him. This verse of scripture was the Lord’s reply.

God doesn’t owe me any explanations for what He does, and He generally doesn’t give me any. But He does assure me, as He did Peter that night, that it’s okay; I often won’t understand what He’s doing, but the understanding will come later if I will just trust Him and follow.

We sing a song that says,

Trust and obey,
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus
But to trust and obey!

Trusting in Him I can rest. Trusting in Him I can follow. Trusting in Him I can obey and just keep going, while I wait for the understanding to come.

Lord, I often don’t understand what You’re doing, or why You allow certain things to happen. Help me to understand more, at the right time. But meanwhile, I know I can trust You, so I’ll continue to follow, with this assurance. You are the Lord, and You are good. Amen.
