Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Sunday 3/15/2026 Devotional

“And as for me, this is My covenant with them,” says the Lord: “My Spirit that is upon you, and My words that I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouth of your offspring, or out of the mouth of your children’s offspring,” says the Lord, “from this time forth and forevermore.”
Isaiah 59:21

What a promise we have here! God’s blessing is on our children and grandchildren when we choose to follow Him, when we come into this covenant relationship with Him by faith in Christ. (The context of this chapter makes this full sense clear.)

I’ll take this promise by faith; I believe it! His Word will be in the mouth of my offspring, my children and grandchildren forever, not just during my lifetime, but always. The covenant that God has established with me has entered into my family line; God has promised!

The beauty of this becomes even more poignant to me, because it applies to children born naturally to me or adopted into my family line. So far, for two generations, we’re running about fifty percen: half of our children and half of our grandchildren have been brought into this family covenant by adoption and they’re all mine, every one of them!

When God gives you a child, that child is yours, and that child is His. He has given one of His precious children into your care, however He chose to do it: a child carefully chosen and set apart by God to be a part of your family forever.

We say that God has no grandchildren, only children; each one must be born again by faith in Christ. True. That’s why He puts His Word in their mouths, because “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”

Lord Jesus, I know that You will fulfill this covenant promise for me. I lay hold of it, trusting in Your Word, knowing that You cannot lie. Your Word will be in the mouths of my offspring forever. Let that Word come alive in each one of their hearts, too! Amen.
