Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in His commandments! His offspring will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.
Psalm 112:1-2
Today is a National Day of Prayer here in the USA. People all over the country are gathering to pray together for our country. Others will quietly shut themselves in their prayer closet to do the same. Many will be praying as they go about their work.
We’re praying that God in His mercy would give us a spirit of repentance, seeking God’s forgiveness for the many ways we’ve turned our back on Him; for wisdom and divine guidance for our leaders at the national and local levels; for justice and compassion in our national policies and in our courts.
The verse from Psalms above sums it up: “The generation of the upright will be blessed.” If we want God’s blessing, approval, protection and prosperity, we have to do it God’s way., and if we do that, we can be sure of His hand on us.
Nation, community, family, company, it’s all the same principle. Do you want God’s blessing on your life?
Oh, Lord, I have to admit that there are many reasons why You should withhold Your blessing from me, from my life, my family, my work and even my country. But I’m counting on Your mercy, forgiveness and redemption for Jesus’ sake as we all pray: draw us back to You, forgive and restore us to what You want to see in our life. Make us into a truly great nation of good people. Amen.
